DiST extended its arms to render a warm welcome to the students joined for varied U.G courses on 29th June, 2017. The function was inaugurated by Rev Dr James Kallumkal VC, Provincial Superior, Mary Matha Province. The day remained very special with the presence of invited dignitaries and the intriguing artistic performances.
Kerala Management Association's (KMA) award for the Best Business Plan for the year 2017 was given to De Paul Institute of Science & Technology (DiST), Angamaly. It was in KMA's Diamond Jubilee celebration conducted in Cochin, Mr Deepak Vohra, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs gave away the prize. The students Sarath Sajeev, Eric John and Arun Thomas who pursue Master of Human Resource Management studies were the team members.
National Service Scheme in collaboration with DES organized a half day cleaning programme at Pakalveedu (Nazrat Nagar) Angamaly. They also conducted different entertaining programmes for them. Together, with the NSS volunteers, the residents of Pakalveedu were very enthusiastic and cooperative to clean the premises of Pakalveedu and make a neat vegetable garden in its backyard.
International Yoga Day was observed under the leadership of NSS Units. It was inaugurated by Fr George Pottayil VC, Director of the college. Yogacharya M. K. Sivan gave some tips for the students to practice Yoga.

Prizes will be separate for UG and PG COURSES. Essays can be written either in English or Malayalam.The topic of the essay is “Be the Change.”

DES in collaboration with Kerala Government Homeopathic Department, School of Social work and Nedumbassery Residential Association conducted a free homeopathic medical camp in Nedumbassery panchayat.The camp was inaugurated by Nedumbassery sub inspector of police Mr. Hari & Dr. Latha A G, the chief medical officer Ernakulum division conducted an awareness class on the importance of preventive methods against spreading of diseases and how to administer different homeopathic medicines.
On June 5th the DIST team observed the world environment day with a theme ‘connecting people to nature’ to create awareness among the students about the necessity of protecting the nature and become its lovers. A tree was planted by the principal of DiST, Mr. Unny C J together with Fr. George Pottayil V C, the Director of DiST, in the campus premises.

The International Women’s Day was celebrated in DiST campus in collaboration with De Paul Extension Services and National Service Scheme with vivid range of colorful programmes. Rev. Dr. James chelappurath, the principal DiST inaugurated the programme by giving pink ribbon to the NSS volunteers. Later, a pink ribbon was given to every woman in the campus as a part of respecting and honoring them in the college. The students of the school of social work organized a street play named “Chuvarukalakkappuram” in the DiST campus and that was really an eye-opener towards the recent problems that women face. In addition, a session on women empowerment and law was conducted by Mrs. Anjeli Cyrus, a leading advocate for the college students. Mr. Dintomon, the project officer of DES and Mr. Shamir, the programme coordinator of NSS were present in the session that lasted for 2 hours.
The library of DiST took initiative to conduct a quiz programme in order to enhance the reading habit of the students. B. Com '16, BA ECJ '15, & MSW '16 got 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes respectively.
DePaul Extension Services (DES) joined hands together with Parakadavu Block & Angamaly Block Panchayath in celebrating World Women's Day programmes in a fabolous manner. The students of School of Social Work performed a street play called 'Chuvarukalkkappuram' which enhanced the awareness regarding 'Women Safety.'
The workshop mainly focused on generating awareness among the students about the problems that waste creates in the current society and act against it. A paper pen was introduced to the campus in the workshop as an action towards making the college campus ecofriendly. Fr. James Chelappurathu V C the principal of DiST, Mr. T R Premkumar, the president of Moozhikulam Sala, Mr. Kabeer B Haroon, Mr.Dintomon P D, Project officer DES and Mr. Shameer, NSS programme coordinator were present in the meeting. Mr. Kabeer B Haroon led the workshop on waste management and the latest techniques in it. Student’s representatives from all the departments of DiST participated in the programme.

Social Work Trainees of De Paul Institute of Science and technology went for 6 day rural camp at Attapadi as part of their first semester curriculum. They visited “Attapadi Adivasi Development Initiatives” (AADI), an NGO working for tribal community. The camp was a unique and new experience for each trainee as they actively participated in various activities like Street Play, Shramadhan, PRA, ‘Ooru’ Visit along with tribal communities over there.
