e-kazhcha (The Computer Literacy Programme for the Rural Empowerment)
A twinkling Free computer literacy Project of De Paul Institute of Science & Technology (DIST) for Rural Empowerment as part of De Paul Extension Services.
e-kazhcha, A creative IT social work of DIST aims to uplift the intellectual and modern technical capacity in the sphere of IT of rural people especially woman. It also focuses to strengthen the woman empowerment through the computer literacy which is today's unavoidable world requirement of reality.
In the first instance DIST selected the Kudumbasree - CDS office bearers under the territory of 14 panchayaths of Angamaly and Parakadavu block panchayaths and Angamaly municipality. The above local govts. have already given their sincere and creative support for the project. The implementation was after the meetings of local govt. heads at DIST.

A virgin step of IT as a social work in the state
I Phase Started with a colorful opening ceremony. The session was inaugurated by very Rev. Fr. Paul Puthuva VC, Provincial Superior, Mary Matha Province, Angamaly on 5th Nov. 2009. Muncipal Chairperson Smt. Thandu Varghese and Fr. Daison Vettiyaden, Finace officer, DIST, felicitated. Sri. K.J. Issac, Parakadavu Block Panchayath rendered the key note address. Sri K.K. Ravi, coordinator of district kudumbasree mission switched on the sakshratha computer. Fr. Alex Chalangady Dist Principal welcomed and sri. Jacob Thaliyan rendered the vote of thanks.
49 Kudumbasree officials participated in the course with an amazing curiosity. The first phase end on 7th Nov. with a closing ceremony. Ad. Jose thettayil, Hon. Minister of State Transport was the chief guest and distributed the course certificate. Sri. Mathew Kolenchery rendered the key note address. The students of DIST school of computer science exibited a lurid seen with various models as IT Park, Cyber city, carnival corner etc…made with the damaged parts of the computer (e-waste). It was a tremendous attempt of e-waste re-cycling process. Thus the 1st phase ended with an unforgettable sublimation of creativity. The second phase started on 16th Nov. 2009. Smt. P.S. Shaila, District Panchayath president inaugurated the opening ceremony. Fr. Mathew Pothalil VC, Education councilor of VC presided over. Fr. Daison vettiyadan finace officer delivered key note address. Sri. Jacob Thaliyan HOD, welcomed and kumari Revathy, student representative rendered the vote of thanks. There after started the training. While the training period many TV channels covered the training programme with the more importance of an academic Project. The training ended on Nov. 18th. Sri K.P. Dhanapalan MP was the chief guest and distributed the certificates. Fr. Alex Chalangady VC, DIST Principal presided over. Rev. Fr. George Pottayil VC, Asso. Manager rendered the key note address. Kumary Giripriya students representative welcomed and Kumari Greshma Sebastian rendered the vote of thanks. Thus an opening step of a literacy project ended with its full spirit which planned as a social work also.
