Situated in Angamaly, the immediacy to some of the leading corporate houses in the country, ranging from information technology to consumer product companies, gives us an added location advantage of integrating classroom knowledge with real world experience. School of Management has been established in the year 2006 with a two year full time Master of Human Resources Management (MHRM) program. Another feather in the cap was a full time 2 year MBA program in the year 2008. More than a decade of experience in the field of management discipline, the department is active in developing next generation with unique managerial qualities that makes the nation proud. The school has an active collaboration with De Paul University Chicago in giving online courses and student exchange programs. School of Management now operates with its two departments: Department of Business Administration and Department of Human Resources. Department of Business Administration offers 2 year full time Master of Business Administration (MBA) program approved by AICTE and affiliated to M.G. University. Department of Human Resources offers 2 year full time Master of Human Resources Management (MHRM) program affiliated to M.G. University

School of Management now offers two management programmes, Master of Business Administration (MBA) two year full time by AICTE and affiliated to M.G. University and Master of Human Resources Management (MHRM) two year full time affiliated to M.G. University

iSTEP (international Student Exchange Program)

In order to provide a cross cultural exposure and a global perspective to the students, DiST School of management has developed an extensive International Students Exchange Program (iSTEP) in collaboration with De Paul University ,Chicago. The life enriching experience is a part of MBA/MHRM program at Dist. This unique opportunity benefit the students through interaction with the large number of overseas students spending a term (usually in the month of December) at DiST or at DePaul University Chicago. i STEP helps the students to gain independence and develop a global perspective on various worldly matters.

  • In 2013 iSTEP was conducted on December 12-18, on Comparative Law and Administration. Faculties from Chicago Dr.Ron Fernandes, Dr. B. Gilomen. and Dr.Vinay Raj R.and Mr Stalin A. from DiST were the main organizers. The total participants of the program were 23 (5 students from Chicago and 15 Students from DiST, Angamaly).
  • On August 25th Dr.Vinayraj R. went to Chicago for discussions with academicians of De Paul University, Chicago as a part of faculty exchange program.
  • In 2014 iSTEP was conducted in two phases- Global Learning Environment (GLE): online course on October 12,2014 with 12 students(2 MHRM and 12 MBA). The second phase was conducted on December 14-19, 2014 on Value Centered Leadership with 12 students. The program was coordinated by faculty of DiST : Dr.Viany Raj R, Mr.Stalin A, and Professor Patricia M. Bombard ,Director: Vincent on Leadership: The Hay Project; Part-Time Faculty: School of Public Service, De Paul University ,Chicago.
  • In 2016 October 28-November 14, 2 MHRM students,3 MBA students with one faculty member visited De Paul University, Chicgao and had done a certified program on American Institutions-Cross-Sectorial Issues .The program was coordinated by Stalin A. Asst.Professor, School of Management, DiST and Dr. Ronald Fernandes ,Professor, SPS,De Paul University, Chicago.


“International conference on Entrepreneurship in a globalized world”
“International conference on Entrepreneurship in a globalized world” was conducted in association with DePaul University Chicago on 13th and 14th December 2013. Dr. K. B Kolte, Director General, Institute of Management Studies, Ahmadnagar, Pune inaugurated the Conference. Dr. Brian Gilomen, Professor, DePaul University, Chicago was the key note speaker. The sessions were handled by Mr. V. K. Mathews, MD, IBS and Dr. Ronald Fernandez, Asst. Director, School of Public Service, DePaul University, Chicago. Dr. Anandakuttan Unnithan, Professor, IIM, Kozhikode , Mr. Sijo Kuruvilla, CEO, Startup Village, Kalamassery. , Dr. V.D Barve, HoD, Dept. Of Commerce, Ahmadnagar College, Pune and Dr. Chitale, Director, Department of Management Studies, Ahmadnagar College, Pune, Dr. K. B Kolte, Director General, Institute of Management Studies, Ahmadnagar College, Pune, Prof. K. P. Mani, Former HOD, Dept. of Economics, University of Calicut were the resource persons.. As a part of conference 40 paper presentations chaired by eminent personalities were held.

Global Management Colloquium 2014 "Workplace Wellness"
De Paul School of Management and NIPM Kerala Chapter organized Global Management Colloquium-2014 on workplace wellness at Hotel Airlink Castle, Athani, Cochin, on 11th December 2014. It gives an excellent international platform for sharing knowledge on workplace wellness, which discusses topic like Wellbeing at the workplace and the impact on productivity, wellness and conflict management – possibilities, CSR and employees volunteering, employee engagement etc. Noted resource persons and guests like Dr.Steven Onken Associate Professor, Department of Social Work, University of Northern Iowa, Ms. Amanda Kruger, President of the Australian Association of Social Workers North Queensland Branch; Prof. Lambert Engel Brecht, Department of Social Work at Stellenbosch University, South Africa make the forum alive.

International Conference on “Triple Bottom line for sustainability An International Conference on “Triple Bottom line for sustainability, the role of Government, Corporate and Non Profit Sectors” was held on 19th and 20th of December 2016 at I M A House Kaloor in association with De Paul University Chicago. The valedictory message was delivered by Dr.Sashi Tharoor, MP and Dr.M C Dileepkumar Vice chancellor of Sanskrit University also was present in the occasion.. Different technical sessions led by veterans in their respective fields like Rev.Fr. Dr. Noel Seth, SJ, Dr. Biju Varkkey, Professor IIM Ahmedabad, Dr. M.C. Valsan, Director School of Environment and Law NUALS Cochin, Dr. Ronald Fernandez, Associate Director, School of Public Service, University Chicago, Mr. T.K. Jose IAS, principal secretary Local Government, government of Kerala, Mr. M.D. Varghese, Head IR and CSR, Cochin Shipyard, Dr. K.P. Mani, professor and head, Department of Economics University of Calicut, Mr. George Thomas, Executive director ESAF microfinance etc made the conference intellectually rejuvenating. Total of 70 abstracts were received of which 53 papers were presented in three parallel sessions on the first and second day. The research papers presented broadly covered areas of corporate social responsibility, sustainability in food production, marketing, finance, HR and its impact on the environment.

FDP’s & Workshops

Faculty Development Programs and workshops are interactive forums in modern day business world. At school of management it is used for dissemination of knowledge and build-up of skills. Seminars at school of management have an introductory session, a keynote address, different sessions, panel discussions and concluding sessions. While the specialist speakers and experts make their presentations, the participants (especially students and teachers) interact and benefit from the question-and-answer sessions. Faculty Development Program (FDP) at DiST is conducted for a small group people to learn basic skills on specific activities. Workshops bring together a group of people working on a particular project or area of interest.

  • On 5th and 6th of July 2013, DiST School of management conducted an FDP on SPSS. Prof Dr. Saji Thazhumkal was the resource person for the program. The faculty members of school of management were the participants.
  • A workshop on Research methods and data analysis with SPSS was held on 27th and 28th June 2014. Prof. Dr. Ramkumar T.B., Rtd. HoD, Dept. of Statistics, St. Thomas College, Thrissur and Prof. Dr. Saji Thazhungal, Professor, Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Management, Govt. Arts and Science College, Thrissur were the resource persons. Around 25 faculties from different colleges participated.
  • A two day workshop on research methodology was conducted on October 6th and 7th 2017.The event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. A. Ramachandran, Vice Chancellor, KUFOS. First session (Day-1) was handled by Dr. Wilson P.R and in his session he emphasized the importance of identification ad validation of problem in any research studies. Second session (Day-1) Prof. Dr. Hareesh N Ramanathan, Director Toc H Institute of Science and Technology explained Research Design in a lucid manner using examples drawn from the real life situations in social sciences. Prof. Dr, Sam Thomas, CUSAT in the afternoon of the first day explained the concept and analysis of Regression Analysis, one of the most important analytical tool used in research in a very simple way. Day 2 Prof. Dr. Sreejesh SS, Cusat during the day explained the theory and application of Exploratory Factor Analysis, Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling using SPSS and Amos. Total of 23 research scholars and academicians attended the workshop and they were given certificates of participation by Prof. Dr. Sreejesh at the end of the two day workshop.
  • With the rapid globalisation and opening up of the Indian economy, "Intellectual Capital" has become one of the key wealth drivers in the present international trade. School of Management organized a one day workshop on Indian Intellectual Property Rights on January 16,2019. Anjana Girish, Asst.Prof.,Centre for IPR Studies, CUSAT, Dr. Athira P.S., Director(i/c), .,Centre for Intellectual Property Rights, NUALS Dr. Anson C.J., Research Officer, .,Centre for IPR Studies, CUSAT were the resource persons.

Research / Expertise

The teaching –learning activity of DiST School of management is optimized with the help of research activities. The department got M.PHIL program in business studies from M.G. University during the year 2013. The program continued till 2016 with 24 dissertations works. The program discontinued in 2017 because of the new regulations from U.G.C. In addition to this school of management initiated consulting activities under DiST Management Consultancy Services during the year 2014. The first consulting work was for Beacon Power Systems. The project titled ‘A feasibility study for Beacon Power systems on Dealer Perception on Demand For Two Wheeler Battery Segments in Kerala was completed in September 2014.In addition to this MHRM students have one month summer internship program during the month of April/May whereas MBA students have a one month optional internship program. The faculty members of school of management have published around 50 papers in national and international journals. Among them 6 are UGC referred journals. The number of presented papers in international conferences from school of management are 15.

Clubs & Associations

‘Teach me I’ll forget, show me, I might remember; involve me I’ll never forget.’ School of Management leaves no stone unturned and welcomes every opportunity to widen the horizons of knowledge of its students and faculty alike. The management association of school of management titled AGORA operates through its three active clubs: Finzone-the finance club; Marketrics- the marketing club and Zum-the HR club.

Finzone-the finance club

The Finance Club is open to all students who are passionate about the world of finance. The aim of this club is to provide a platform where financial knowledge can be learned and shared among its members. The club helps them learn the nuances of financial planning, tax planning, the functioning of the stock exchange and other aspects of finance in order to prepare them for a career in finance and business.

The finance club titled Finzone has all the students who take finance specialization as it members. The club initiated several programs under its umbrella. The major activities are budget analysis competition, stock trading, SEBI and RBI visits etc. In addition to these activities, interaction with various leaders and mangers in financial sector is also arranged by the club. The club members also participate in finance games conducted by various colleges and has brought accolades to the department and institution.

Marketrics-the marketing club

The hub for marketing at DiST serves as a center for creativity, excellence for all those with an unwavering passion and love for marketing. The club aims at interesting the students to hone their marketing knowledge and skills. The Club keeps the essence of marketing upbeat across the campus by engaging all students in competitions and activities along with roping in various project and networking opportunities.

The marketing club of School of Management,DiST which as known as MASS was rebranded as Marketrics on 24-07-2015 with a new logo. The new logo and brand name was unveiled by the Principal Rev. Dr. James Chelapurath V.C. The chief guest Mr, James Joseph, shared his experience with the students with regard to marketing of a novel idea and theme drawing from his experience in creating a online demand for jackfruits round the year.On 19-08-2015 the club organized a marketing quiz for the students of DiST to promote the brand- Marketrics. During Sept-Oct 2015, the club developed and implemented strategies to increase the visibility of Daksh, the National level management fest of De Paul School of Management. It could be said that their strategies in social media was a success because Daksh 2015 had largest student participation compared to its previous versions.On 09-11-15 the club organized a session on "Personal Branding using Social Media" to make the students project their career prospects through Linkdin.On 25-07-2018 Marketrics activities for the academic year 2018-19 kick started with a sessions on greener pastures in marketing by Mr. Fazalu Rahman, Acer-India. On 04-12-18 organized a visit to Adithya Brila Retail’s All Kerala Distribution center at Thuravur to get an insight about their supply chain and logistics.

Zum-the HR Club

The purpose of Zum – the HR club is to bring together students interested in the field of Human Resources Management, help them develop interpersonal skills needed in the corporate and encourage them to meet professionals who work in the field of Human Resources Management. This club is designed to help students learn more about Human Resource and what Human Resource Professionals do.

Management Fest

College life is one of the most exciting and important phases in anyone’s life. During this period, a student comes across several experiences, and learns new things. A college festival is not just for fun, it adds value to a student’s learning experience.

Daksh:- the management fest of School of Management DiST, was started in the year 2010.A two-day long extravaganza full of events to keep some of India's most brilliant minds engaged, Daksh is entirely conceptualized and managed by students. From keynote addresses to revered and distinguished luminaries, stimulating business wisdom through panel discussions, case-study competitions to debates, Daksh aims to be bigger and better with every passing year. A perfect blend of academia, management and entertainment, the fest will include participation from pan-India management schools and other graduate and post-graduate colleges, young professionals and established industry giants alike. Keeping in sync with the values of DiST School of management, Daksh endeavors to ignite minds, illuminate thoughts and inspire hearts.

Evolution of DAKSH:-
  • December 20, 2010 DAKSH’10 was conducted.
  • The second edition of DAKSH-DAKSH’12 was conducted on 10th, 11th January 2012 with the theme Japanese Management.
  • The third installment of DAKSH – DAKSH’13 with the theme Egyptian Management was conducted on the 22nd and 23rd January 2013.
  • 2014 witnessed two DAKSH events: DAKSH’14 and DAKSH’14 reloaded .The fourth DAKSH-DAKSH 14 was conducted on 22nd and 23rd January 2014.The fifth edition of DAKSH: DAKSH’14 Reloaded was conducted on November 27th and 28th.
  • In 2015 the 6th Edition of DAKSH: DAKSH ‘15 was conducted on October 7th and 8th.
  • In 2016 the 7th Edition OF DAKSH: DAKSH’16 was conducted on October 4th & 5th, 2016.
  • In 2017 DAKSH join hands with the College fest DIGNITO and conducted DIGNITO’17 on December 20th and 21st.
  • The college witnessed 2019 edition of DAKSH: DAKSH’19 in October 3,4,2019

Parent Teacher Association

Parents and teachers play an important role in framing young minds to address future challenges. At DiST there is an executive PTA meeting which consists of parents and teachers from different department and departmental PTA meetings which is conducted twice in a year.

At departmental PTA meetings overall personality of a student with the teacher i.e. his/her behavior, manner, habit, attitude, learning styles, relation to self and society etc. The parents have the opportunity to meet teachers and interact with them. This platform helps parent and teacher to develop a rapport and build a strong relationship to understand and determine the need of their child. Parent as well as teacher shares their effort on a common platform for the welfare of a child. Parent works at home on the feedback and observation shared by the teacher at school. Quality education is possible only when student teacher and parents work together. These three stake holders integrated effort give the best learning outcomes.

Membership In Professional Bodies

Educational networking puts you in contact with other educators, educational administrators, and legislators that advocate for children's right to education. School of management have membership in different professional bodies like Kerala Management Association(KMA),Confederation of Indian Industries(CII) and National Institute of Personal Management(NIPM).The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization. NIPM is a non­profit making body devoted to building professional excellence in the field of Human Resource Management through regular activities ranging from Evening Lectures to People Process Quality Certifications. Students organize seminars and participate in different activities initiated by these chapters.


Placements at DiST School of management give students the opportunity to gain skills specific to their subject or industry of choice as well as the employability skills required for real-life work. It also increases their knowledge of an industry or sector, allowing them to make better informed decisions about future career choices. From the student perspective, high quality placements can bring a range of benefits and positive impacts. There is strong evidence to suggest that placements and work experience are extremely valuable to students, both in terms of their academic performance and their employability skills. At school of management placements form an important part of a business’s ethos, corporate social responsibilities and identity by developing the skills of students that are important to the future of their industry. The School of Management Placement Cell activities involves the following 8 steps

  • Step 1: Formation of Student Placement Team.
  • Step 2: Start of preparations for the design and print of Recruiter’s Manual.
  • Step 3: Start of Aptitude Training & Soft Skill Training (REVIVE in two phases) 60 hours each.
  • Step 4: COGNIZANCE- Release of the Recruiter’s Manual.
  • Step 5: Sending invitations to maximum corporate to the first placement season.
  • Step 6: Conduct of exclusive and pool recruitment drives
  • Step 7: Sending invitations to maximum corporate to the final placement season
  • Step 8: Conduct of Carpe diem, the formal culmination of Placements of the academic year.

  • In 2013 the number of students placed through campus placements was 12.The maximum salary offered was Rs.240000/- per annum and the average salary offered Rs.179000/-per annum.
  • In 2014 the number of students placed through campus placements was 28.The maximum salary offered was Rs.264000/- per annum and the average salary offered Rs.178714/-per annum.
  • In 2015 the number of students placed through campus placements was 29.The maximum salary offered was Rs.370000/- per annum and the average salary offered Rs.189862/-per annum.
  • In 2016 the number of students placed through campus placements was 75.The maximum salary offered was Rs.2.4lakhs- per annum and the average salary offered 2.10lakhsper annum.
  • In 2017 the number of students placed through campus placements was 74.The maximum salary offered was Rs.7.2lakhs per annum and the average salary offered Rs.3.10lakhsper annum.
  • In 2018 the number of students placed through campus placements was 61. The maximum salary offered was Rs.5.1lakhs per annum and the average salary offered Rs.3 lakhs per annum.
  • In 2019 the number of students placed through campus placements was 42. The maximum salary offered was Rs.7.3lakhs per annum and the average salary offered Rs.3.7 lakhs per annum.


Educational institutions are changing the way they see and interact with their alumni community. Earlier, alumni and their alma-mater were treated as separate entities wherein one’s existence was independent of the other.   • NOSTALGIA 17 was conducted in May 13,2017.On July 17,2017 an Alumina chapter at Trivandrum was inaugurated.
