Development of human resource is the prime function of education. Therefore, every educational institution should aim at shaping the human soul to fit into the society to which he belongs. Education serves as a tool for this Transformation.
NSS has been functioning in the realm of higher education since last four decades. The overall objective of NSS is education and service to the community and essentially it is a student centered programme. Whatever the community gets should be as a by-product and the principal product should be the educational experience which the volunteer student is likely to acquire through his participation in the projects.
NSS in association with DES conducted a mega sales and exhibition of the products of Self Help Groups(SHG) on 23rd March 2015. It included the groups of under privileged, women and handicapped. Rev.Dr. James Chelapurath VC, the Principal inaugurated the programme. It was a great opportunity for these groups to exhibit their creative talents and to bag a good amount of money by selling their products.
On 1st October NSS celebrated old Age Day in association with Angamaly Muncipality, which made the elderly participants feel at cloud nine in spite of ageing.
DiST NSS formed a Blood Donors Club in association with VSS on 29th October .Rev. Dr Alex Chalangady the educational counselor of Mary Matha Province and associate manager, DiST inaugurated the club and Rev Dr. James Chelappurath, the Principal presided over the ceremony . Fr Sameer Macwan, the Vice Principa, Fr. Varghese Perinchery, the Director VSS, Asst Pro. Sanilkumar, Asst. pro. Reena Cherian, NSS programme officers felicitated the function. Mr. Edwin Joy the Volunteer secretary expressed vote of thanks. There are around two hundred members in the donors club. A Blood Donation Camp also was conducted in association with Regional Blood Bank Aluva on the same on the same day of the clubs inauguration.
The Special Camp for seven days from 18 th to24 th was a meaningful one for the goal it achieved and the spirit it created. During the camp days NSS could help an under privileged family to see their dream come true. The volunteers carried all the solid blocks required to build a house on a hill top, which was impossible otherwise. The villagers and the all the popular newspapers acclaimed the good job well done. There were seminars and classes on various topics including organic farming by the experts. Cultural programmes and classes on personality development helped the s volunteers in shaping their personality. . The camp was at Tabore, Mookkannoor Grama Panchayat and was inaugurated by Mrs Moly Vincent President and Rev. Dr. James Chelapurath V. C was on the chair. Mr Alias K Tharian Vice President and various dignitaries felicitated the inaugural meeting. Asst Prof. Sanilkumar welcomed the gathering and Asst Prof. Reena Charian expressed the vote of thanks. “The special camp was a wonderful experience and it changed altogether my attitude towards life” remarked a camper.
For the first time the Special Camp was conducted virtually using google meet platform from 22 to 28 January 2021 and was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. George Pottayil V. During the camp NSS volunteers cleaned public places in Angamaly Municipality including Railway Station. Volunteers were asked to plant saplings in their premises and locality. Based on that an online posture making campaign was conducted. NSS Programme officer Praful Jose briefed how to make postures. Instructions were given to make postures group wise.

NSS units in collaboration with DES organized a webinar on the topic ‘Drug Abuse by Youngsters’ in collaboration with Kerala Excise Department Vimukthi programme. The webinar was inaugurated by Aluva CI G. Krishnakumar. The webinar was lead by V.T. Job, faculty of Vimukthi Mission and ‘Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyan’, Ministry of Social Justice. Preventive Officer M.T Ummer felicitated the gathering.

A webinar on No Tobacco Day in association with Sanjeevani Life beyond Cancer for NSS volunteers was successfully conducted through google meet. The session was handled by Ms. Sumki Begum, Programme Coordinator - outreach and counselor Sanjeevani life Beyond Cancer. Principal Dr. Unny C J presided the webinar. NSS Volunteer Abiya Saju welcomed the gathering. NSS Volunteer Arathi K N proposed vote of thanks. At the end of the session the feedback link was provided.
A webinar on Pocso Act & child abuse in association with Sakshi & Rakshin Project for NSS volunteers was successfully conducted through google meet. The session was handled by Ms. Aditi Kishore, Programme head Aarohi Blood Bank & Rakshin Project Kerala. Principal Dr. Unny C J presided the webinar. NSS Volunteer Abiya Shaju welcomed the gathering. NSS Volunteer Arathi K N proposed vote of thanks. At the end of the session the feedback link was provided then they will get certificates from Rakshin Project.
DiST NSS units in Collaboration with Angamaly Thaluk Hospital and Muncipality of Angamaly organized a Covid19 vaccination programme from 23 to 30th of April, 2021. Inauguration ceremony was done by Dr. Naseema, Medical superintendent, Angamaly. The programme aimed at vaccinating people above 60 years. Everyday 10 volunteers of Dist NSS units cooperated for the easy execution of the programme.

NSS units observed Reading Day on June 19. NSS Programme officer Anju V Nair briefed the importance of the day. After the session volunteers were asked to make hand made postures with a slogan related to the importance of reading.
International Yoga day was successfully organized through google meet on June 21 from 7.00 a.m to 8.00 a.m. Yoga practice sessions were already given to them by NSS Programme Officer Anju V Nair and student volunteer Arathi K N. All volunteers performed yoga along with programme officers.
A Webinar on Road Safety Awareness was conducted through google meet on 29 September 2021 at 5.00 pm. The session was handled by renowned resource person Mr. Anoop Sai T, Safety Riding Officer, Honda Safety Driving Education Centre, Calicut.
As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a venture of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Nehru Yuvakendra and DiST NSS Units 104&104A organized the Clean India Programme in Association with Angamaly Muncipality at KSRTC Bus Stand, Angamaly on October 10- 2021. NSS Volunteers of 2020-22 Batch actively participated to clean the premises of the Bus Stand following the Covid protocall. NSS Programme Officer Anju V Nair welcomed the gathering. On the 146 th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel NSS units celebrated National Unity Day. On October 31st 2021, an oath taking ceremony was organized using google meet platform. NSS Programme Officer Anju V Nair briefed the importance of the day and read the pledge prepared by Ministry of Youth Affairs for the students. NSS Volunteers of 2020-22 Batch actively participated in the programme.
NSS volunteers conducted a survey for Parakkadavu Grama Panchayath on 6 and 7 January 2022. The aim of the survey was to find out the homeless poor people who really deserve the aid from panchayat. Almost twenty students were part of the programme.
NSS Units celebrated Republic day on 26-January-2022. Rev. Fr. Lindo Puthuparambil V C hoisted the National Flag and delivered the Republic day message.
