Knowledge Beyond Borders

Every day brings something new. Innovations in various fields cannot always be included in the students' curriculum. Seminars are capable of keeping students updated with new technologies while renewing their motivation and confidence. The department takes a keen interest in conducting seminars for all UG and PG batches by inviting eminent personalities who have achieved significant feats in relevant fields.

Academic Year 2025-26

  • A seminar on "Introduction to Research Methodology" was conducted for postgraduate students on 16/07/2025. Resource person, Mr. Badusha Muhammed, SPSS Trainer..
  • Orientation programme : Add-on programmes of ACCA & US CMA for the academic year 2025-26 is arranged for B Com Hons 25 on 16/07/25. Resource person, Mr. Arjun Raj, Regional Manager of ISDC.
  • Capital Market Awareness Programme on July 28, 2025. Resource person Mr. Sunil Mathai, Senior Associate Trainer.
  • Orientation on Diploma Course in Forensic Accounting for B Com Hons 25 on 29/07/25. Resource person Mr. CA Binoy Thomas, Director of Bee Tees Academy of Commerce.
  • The students of B.Com Logistics (Batch 2024) attended the CII Summit on “India: Global Logistician Hub” organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on 22nd August 2025 at Holiday Inn, Vennala, Kochi.
  • Industry talk to B.Com ’23 and M.Com ’24 batches on 26th August 2026. Resource Person Mr. Linju Cherian- Senior manager, Talent Acquisition, Nest Digital.
  • An orientation programme to B. Com ’23 batch on ‘Medical coding, billing and hospital administration’ by Anton’s Medicode.
  • A practical session on GST- ‘ GST insight’ to B.Com ’24 students specialising in Business Law on 6th October 2026. by Mr. Lijose P- Chartered Accountant , LP & Associates.
  • B.Com ’23 and ’24 batches participated a regional investor awareness program on Basics of Capital Market organised by School of Commerce and DPCR in Association with SEBI and NSE
  • International Accounting Day Celebration: A seminar on “Future Ready Accountants skills you need in the AI Era” by CA Thomas Chackku
  • A session on career guidance ‘Future with Commerce’ to B. Com ’23 batch by CA Vibin Vincent- Prudent Academy.
  • The Department of Commerce, De Paul Institute of Science & Technology (DiST), Angamaly, successfully facilitated the participation of advanced learners in an international academic event under the initiative titled “LearnSphere – International Conference Participation for Advanced Learners.” As part of this initiative, two final-year B.Com students, Arjun Krishna and Aldrin Shaji (B.Com 2023 batch), actively participated in a three-day International Conference held from 10th to 12th December at Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara.
  • The School of Commerce, organized a One Day Workshop on Financial Education for Young Citizens on 16 January 2026. Resource Person Mr. Manoj T Neelakantan, Former AGM, IDBI Bank, and Certified Trainer – SEBI.
  • A session on start up ‘Learn to Launch’ to B.Com ’24 and ’25 batch students on 16/02/2026 by Dr. Mary Liya CA – Associate Professor and IEDC Nodal officer, St. Theresas College, Ernakulam.
  • Organized an SPSS Workshop for the MCom 2024 Batch on 28th January 2026. The session was led by Dr. Shameer M A, Associate Professor, DiST Angamaly.
  • Commerce department organized a specialized training session on Eco friendly initiative for BCom 25 batch students under the leadership of MSW 25 Batch students on 30/01/2026
  • A practical session on GST ‘Delight- 26’ organized by School of Commerce and DPCR to B.Com ’23 and M.Com ’24 batch by Mr. F Clinton Pinheiro

Academic Year 2023-24

  • DiST School of Commerce in association with EazyLink, Ernakulam, conducted a seminar on Career Guidance on 29th September 2023 for M.Com and B.Com final-year students. The resource person was Mr. Sony Akkara, International Certified Career Coach (Founder & Director, EazyLink Academy).
  • DiST School of Commerce (DSC) organised an external seminar on the topic “Overview of Securities Market and Career Growth” for M.Com 2022 and M.Com 2023 batches on 31st July 2023. This seminar was sponsored by the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in association with Apex Academy. The session was handled by Mr. Manoj T. Neelakantan.
  • DiST School of Commerce in association with ISDC conducted a seminar on US CMA & ACCA on 14th August 2023. The resource person was Mr. Sarath Venugopal, Regional Head of ISDC (International Skill Development Corporation).

Academic Year 2022-23

  • De Paul School of Commerce in association with ACCA, IMA and ISDC conducted a seminar on the topic “Opportunities and Career Prospects of ACCA and CMA US” on 14th October 2022. The seminar began at 2:00 pm with a welcome speech proposed by Asso. Prof. Dr. Anosh Paul, Head of the Department. The resource person was Mr. Venugopal V. Menon, Director – Kerala Growth Projects International Skill Development Corporation.
  • De Paul School of Commerce in association with The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), conducted a seminar on the topic “Investor Resilience - A Smart Investor Conducts Research Before Investing and Diversifies His Portfolio” on 13th October 2022. The resource person was Mr. N. P. Rajive (CDSL IPF).
  • De Paul School of Commerce in association with The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), conducted a seminar on the topic “Professionalism in Logistics” on 30th September 2022. The resource person was Mr. Arun Gopal E. G. (Logistics Professional).

Academic Year 2021-22

  • De Paul School of Commerce in association with ISDC and Ulster University UK, conducted an International Webinar on the topic “Empowering EdUKation Beyond Borders” on 18th February 2022. The resource persons were Mr. Noel Selvin, Regional Head Ulster University, and Ms. Kirsty Winter, Global Recruitment and Engagement Officer.
  • De Paul School of Commerce in association with Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), conducted a seminar on the topic “Investor Awareness and the Role of Regulators / Investment and Capital Market / Financial Literacy” on 17th February 2022. The resource person was Mr. N. P. Rajive CS, Management Consultant.
  • Webinar on the topic “Gateway to Financial Freedom” on 23rd September 2021. The resource person was Mr. Rajanikanth CS, Corporate Trainer, Hedge School of Applied Economics.
